2006 Season is over.

Wednesday, October 18th, 2006

I feel like enough time has passed since my last writing to
warrant another attempt at writing.

The road bike gaming season is over. I’m kind of bummed about
it, because it was just starting to race my bike better. Or maybe I got lucky
and had a few decent finishes and that tricked me into thinking that I was doing
something right. I saved up I guess for what was definitely the best ride of
my year for this past Saturday in Greenville, and then probably the next two
best rides for the other last two races of the year. I think that’s a good thing.
I’d prefer to end my season on a good note, rather than say a broken collarbone,
or a d-nuff. All three of those races were ever so close to being a lot better
than they were too, which doesn’t matter at all, but at some point it’ll work
out.

In other important news, basketball has taken a slow down of
late and rightly so after I had the most incredible span of shooting the world
has ever seen. I’ve never in my life made shots like I made that one fateful
day, I guess it was two weeks ago now. I don’t ever want to shoot a basketball
again, because there’s no hope of anything like that ever again. We played a
lot there for awhile, but the injuries started to mount quickly, and cross bike
practice came around…

So instead of basketball practice, I’ve taken up cross bike
game practice and it’s hard. We had practice last week or something like that
and I can stand on the truth podium and say that’s the hardest I’ve ever gone
on me bike in me life, and Jacob still put like 47 minutes into me in the span
of about 20 minutes. It was obscene. Simple though…ride as hard as you can
for as long as you, come apart, pick up the pieces, and keep at it till the
game is over.

Speaking of cross…I JUST got my cross fork in the mail today.
It has been almost four weeks since I ordered it. Apparently the fork got lost
in Canadia and didn’t want to leave or something like that, either way, it’s
here now, and I’m officially going to begin the great attempt at the cross bike
build. Maybe.

I’ve been drinking a bit lately too…that’s been fun. I don’t
drink much, but when it starts flowing…it just tastes so good and I can’t
seem to stop until I’m gone, gone, gone…

I’m probably doing my first ever cross bike game this weekend
in Augusta. It should be mildly funny. After that, I think I’m going to take
a full week off and then start practice for the winter. I need a break, now
is good.

Circle Bike Game Hardness

Monday, October 2nd, 2006

Jamila said I couldn’t wake up this morning at 530. So I did.
So there.

It’s 2 pm now and I feel like I need to get to bed. There’s
a lot of day to deal with when you wake up before 10.

I did some bike gaming this weekend. Saturday was negatively
worth commenting on. Sunday was hard. I didn’t feel all that hot, but that’s
probably because it was hard. I started to cramp with 10 to go – seriously,
I cramp plenty, but in a 1:10 crit? That blew my mind, and hurt good. I whined
a lot to myself about how worthless I was (am) and then there was Thad and he
was attacking and I followed him up to the move (sort of, cuz I couldn’t go
really really fast cuz I couldn’t get out of my saddle). I thought I had made
the real deal move with 3 to go, but that came back with 1 to go, and I was
cooked for the finish, but I still made a little bit of money.

I got 22nd…the exact same spot as last year. There’s some
improvement.

Enough stupid bike game reporting. Is there any way to talk
about a bike game without yawning?

I just had a big can of soup. I was hungry before it, and very
full after it. Soup…filled me up.

b-bye
