California…

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

I’ve been in California for nine days now I think. The trip has been quite an eye opener for me in every aspect – biking and living are two good ones.

We started San Dimas today. It was pretty obvious ahead of time that San Dimas was going to be hellafied hard, with the full on stacked field, but after putting out the best 15 minute wattage of my life and rolling in for a solid 91st, I really do have a newfound respect for my place in the cycling world.

I’m not bothered by it by any means, I’m still happy with MY effort, and know there’s a lot of improvement still to be made. There’s not too much else to say about a time trial.

I went hard, I came apart, I finished.

Then I rode back down the gorgeous climb and smiled.

We rode to and from the race today, so we still got in a good three hours.

Tomorrow’s stage 2 should be awful hard. The team meeting informed me that there will be crosswinds, hills, and small roads, and a centerline rule. And tomorrow we need to show the rest of the world that we’re a legitimate team and belong here. So that sounds good to me.

I’m going to bed now.

We’re in Rancho Cucamonga.
